What would be better To keep my 5 speed transmission in my 85 with a 22re or put in one from a 3.0? I have the 89 i am parting out and i have the Trans and the rear axle should i put both of them into my 85? I have 4.88 gears in the 85 axle, will the third just inter change or will i have to get new gears?
The tans are both 5 spd's is it worth the hassel what is the gearing difference and which would be better for wheeling?
If i put the 89 rear axle in will i have to put spacers up front?
And what else do i need to know?

no leave the 5 speed in the 85 22re it is the good one. or waight put the other in and send me the 22re one. if you have regeared i would leave it. it is too much work to swap things. just make that 85 work or send the hole truck to me.

 

As far as work goes i have to take the tranny out anyway to replace the rear seal, so it will be out any way.
But the 22re has better gearing?
or does the 3.0?
If you want my truck then come and get it...
