Hi Folks,
I'm spun on this problem, and even after looking at similar threads, I have still to find an answer for it. The problem is with my 98 Tacoma 3.4L. It will run fine in the morning, then after it gets warmed up, turned off, and re-started, it will run rough and throw a P0301 code (Cylinder #1 Misfire). This problem has been going on for a while now, and Ive had it in and out of the shop a few times with no answers. I have replaced the wires, replaced the plugs (the old Denso's looked fine) with NGK's, swapped the location of the coils, and still nothing. Pretty much ruling out an electric problem, I'm starting to think its a fuel problem. I only burn Chevron gas, and figured I'd try a fuel system cleaner. The first time I did this, the misfire occured less often. I did it again, an this time it had no effect. Maybe its clogged injectors? Would it make sense for it to only miss when its warm if injectors were the problem? What about a vaccum problem? Any advice you guys can spare would be greatly appreciated!!

warm vs cold can make electrical problems come and go

could be injector, have them pressure cleaned with solvent in the fuel rail

Not sure, but could it be a signal wire coming into the coil?

You could very well have a bad injector.You can swap injectors if you are inclined,and see if the miss follows the injector,or just buy one if you are that far into the job.Atleast you would not have to remove the intake manifold.


What did the plug look like out of that cylinder? That could answer a question right there.

It is possible for an injector to go electrically open once it heats up and works fine when cold,stranger things have happened.you could get an OHM reading cold and then once its hot get another OHM reading that could tell you.......Now that I think about it,I would just put an injector in it.Probably get one plus the fuel rail gaskets under $200.
