Middle of OME 890 Install - Need Help!

Hi all, need some help out of a jam...

Installing OME 890/60028. New springs in, new shocks in (by top bolt only). OME poly shock bushing is lubed & on bushing mount (not shock itself)...We're trying hard to push/hammer the shock onto the bushing so I can torque bottom bolt, but it's not cooperating at all and can't get the shock onto the one-piece bushing.

At this stage of the game, is there a way to get this done without backtracking, or, do I have no choice but to take the shocks back off and press them with a vice or something? How does everyone else do it?

Realizing this may be a stupid noob question I thought better to post it anyway and hopefully everyone won't be TOO hard on me. lol It's late, I'm tired, all help is appreciated!

I took a pic but hunting for the usb cable to d/l the pic...if I can find it I'll edit posting w/pic.

Thanks!

A vice would be best. You could use C clamp or big pair of vice grips. Did you lube up the outside of the bushing? It shouldn't be THAT hard to get in there.

I had the same problem with mine. I tried a vise and the stupid things kept squishing out or turning on me. It was like trying to get a square block into a round hole so I just said screw it and used the old two piece bushings from the old shocks and I've had no issues. Good luck.

Yep, I heavily greased them w/the synthetic Green grease (Advance Auto). What was compounding the situation was, the angles of bushing on mount vs. shock, was not "quite" 100% spot-on so I was fighting against the shock wanting to pop back off. Instead of fighting w/it more I cut my losses, uninstalled them and used a vice which went pretty smoothly (should have done it that way first). Now left is Tundra rotor upgrade, couple more poly bushings, new tires and then off for alignment (I also installed 881's/90004 on front too).

Thanks for the input guys!
