Manually Disengage E-Locker?

Manually Disengage E-Locker?
I switched on my elocker last weekend to pull my boat out of the water, and it worked fine. BUT - when I went to disengage it, it would not unlock.
After reading several threads on here, I decided to pull the actuator and check its functioning. Big surprise - not working. My problem now is that I can't get the actuator back in. The gears are lined up as suggested by the FSM, but it wont seat back into the opening. Am I missing something?
Also...
Is there anyway to pull the actuator and manually disengage the locker so I can get back to normal quickly?
Ideally I probably need to clean up the actuator motor as was done in several of the threads I have read about similar problems. I need to get the 4runner back on the road asap though, and I rarely use the locker (probably what caused this mess).
Thanks,
Daniel

i would pull the motor off. and try hitting the switch a few times to see if the motor works. if it works. try installing again jack up the rear tires. slowly spin while someone pushs the botton. you can manual unlock by taking the motor off and stick your finger in there or screwdriver and try to work the gear to the right.
