MAINTENANCE question. (timing belt/water pump)

Hey guys, I just took my 4runner to the shop to get a check-up. I had the fuel filter replaced because it was RUSTED! and it was causing a slow crank, but the slow crank is slightly still there. The mechanic said it might have damaged the fuel pump. I got all the fluids topped off so I have a starting point for my future maintenance. I have no record about the timing belt and water pump and I was told by the mechanic if I wanted to do that it'll cost nearly 600-700 bucks. Is there a way to check if my timing belt and water pump was replaced?! I don't want to pay up to 400 dollars in labor and find out that it was already replaced. Thanks alot guys!

pull the cover and visually inspect it, other than that no.
if it looks worn then probably good to do however this is not the hardest job to do your self.

Well if this helps every 60k is when you are to replace the timing belt. The water pump is just easy to do at the same time while it is all tore down. If you do have work done make sure to get the oring kit to replace them going back on. Also, if you have some do it under 900 bucks isn't bad.

60K for the '95.5 and '96 3.4s, 90K after that. $900 is pretty steep, the dealership by me wanted $700. Most indie shops will do it for about $5-650.
