Magnaflow

Just ordered the Magnaflow part number 11256 (18" long, since Corey said the shorter it is the louder it gets, I don't want it too loud so I got the 18" one), and the Stainless steel tip. The muffler runs $100.00 installed and the tip runs $35 installed.

Do you guys think this is a good deal? Will have it installed this Friday.

I think that is a good price. I'm not familiar with the tip though. Let us know how you like it.

I agree with TStango - good price on the muffler, know nothing about the tip.
I think you'll like the sound. I'm loving mine!

P.S.
Don't be alarmed if you start smelling something like the muffler shop around your truck. Just some stuff inside the muffler burning off is what I found. Just something to tolerate for a couple of days.

Where did you order the muffler from? I've been looking on line and that part number doesn't seem to match up with the mufflers i've found. I keep finding a 14256 part#?. I went to a local muffler shop around my apartment and they quoted me the 18" $190 installed, that seemed really high to me.

That's a high price!
I had a Dynaflow 50 put on, a freeflow cat and 2 1/4" pipes, total price was a little over $300! That was a good price!

Nags, how do you like your 24 inch exhaust? Is it too quiet? Or do you think it's just right? You have the stock tubing right?

I paid $180 for the same mufler and tip installed so $135 is a great deal.

Anyone here tried to install their own muffler?
Do you have to weld it? Or can you use sleeves and sealant or something?

Nothing will seal and stand up to the 600 degree temperatures other than a weld. Pay a pro. On this one it's worth it.

i installed a magnaflow 5x8x18 2 1/4" with a downey header on my 2.7 im running 285/75/r16 and it really brought back the hp and tq, spent 90$ on muffler plus tubing, 180 on the header + a stainless tube for bout 50$, like 320$ total everything, welded it, took me a long time to do, but saved a lot of $$

I'm not Nags but I have the 24 inch Magnaflow with 2.5" mandrel bent piping and it sounds good. Good and deep, no drone in the cab at any speed, quiet idle, and not too loud. It will talk to you when you get on it.

I have installed many mufflers. Welding them in is my preference. Sleeves are a pain, because sometimes you need more than one just to connect it. m If you have access to a welder, it is definitely the way to go. I think 135 is a good deal for the setup, but I think you should check out the pricing for a cat-back. It shouldn't be much more. Any reputable muffler shop can easily build a cat-back from scratch, within no time. You can expect bigger gains from cat-back.
