lubricant leak - lower A-arm of 3rd gen

Hi,

I checked the underside of my Hilux Surf this morning and noticed that there is an oil or grease leak on the underside of the lower A-arm, the place where the ball joint connects to the arm. It's not dripping so it may grease, not oil. The CV boots are ok and there's no leak.

Is there anything in the lower A-arm or ball-joint that needs to be replaced?

Thanks.

Your lower balljoint boot is probally torn and leaking grease. They are easy to replace and cost less than $10 at the stealership including new grease.

I'd pull the wheel and turn the steering wheel all the way to one side to get a good look at everything. Just remember that fluids follow gravity and aerodynamics (while driving) so the source will usually be slightly higher and forward of the actual leak (if any). Look for torn boots, brake lines, etc and replace the offending part.
