Cut springs?? I can't believe you spent $4k on *BLING* but couldn't pony up the money for proper lowering springs. #1 ghetto mod, maybe of all time.

(you did say you had your flamesuit on )
haha, wow, tell us how you really feel....

personally i dont like lowered trucks.. i dont see the point of turning it into something useless... im not a fan of any truck not used as a truck so im biased...

ok now, it does look a lot better lowered wiht those rims.... i personally would never cut springs, but at least you didnt just heat them up..... when lowereing, the best method is lowered springs, like eibach or the like....

Before I lifted I wanted to bag my ride. but the kit fro air ride tech. here in hawaii would be $5,000 installed. The only reason I wanted to bag it is that cutting the springs are not low enough.

Yes, I import them from Japan, 2" and 3" but they cost a small fortune. HIs way is more cost effective.

yeah, the lowering method is a little ghetto.. yes its 2wd. as far a proper lowering springs, they're hard to get a hold of. what im probably going to end up doing is using a coilover in the front, which i can probably use the downeys, and hack a coil off. but then i still havent figured out what i can do in the rear. ive also tried calling various spring manufacturers to custom build a set of springs, but wont do it unless i order 20 sets. airbags or hydraulics are out of the question.

aint that the truth.. i remember when you quoted me for the springs they sell the front and rear seperately. im thinking about using a coilover in the front. could you just order me a rear set of springs?

I too was looking to lower the front on my 2 WD 3rd gen 4Runner, but the only springs offered were to lower a 4 WD by 1". This I believe is the stock 2 WD height.

Are there any recommendations for adjustable coilovers for lowering a '96 4Runner?

gn86r,ok you're 2wd,then go all out for the looks plus with you in Florida you gotta compete harder for attention with all those sports cars down there.

I still think you should look for proper springs since the handling will be so much better not to mention safer.

cool, now you're a couple inches closer to the speedbumps. Why not spinners too?

looks tight, where'd u ge the bushwackers from and how much where they? also how much did it cost you to paint them and the front bumper?? i want to do the exact same thing to mine. Are those 20's? cuz i've got 20's and would like to lower mine as well. how many coils did you cut off? i'm afraid my tires will rub against the ball joint in the front if i lower it. theres a shop in town that will do it, but they would rather know how much to take off instead of doing it inch by inch and reassembling. get back to me or email me at rtuguria@indiana.edu as soon as you can. thanks.

It doesn't look awful, and the fact that it's 2wd, you really didn't loose much offroad capability. So long as you're not doing any towing or heavy hauling, it shouldn't affect performance too much. I'll give you a for originality and having the gall to post it up on here.

Some people don't have to "compete for attention" because of their vehicles. Ever thought of that? Maybe people just have unique preferences and don't need the approval of others for "who they are" lol.

Raising a truck is just as "dumb" as lowering one, if you want to be honest about it. Matter of fact, raising is actually less safe than lowering. You can self justify in your mind all you want about the retort, but facts override your emotional tirade about it.
