Question Low temp/overdrive sensor ??

Does anybody know how to defeat the overdrive lockout on an automatic tranny when the engine is not up to temp? My thermostat on the 3.0L seems to be too free flowing. It holds temp well once it gets to proper temp. In all the years we have had it, the proper temp was reached within 2 miles. Even in 30 degree weather. When we had the head work done, I had a new thermostat put in. That would be its 3rd one. This one took 4 miles to get to proper temp in 90 degree weather. That was about 5 months ago. now that the weather is getting cooler, it takes even longer to get to temp and the auto tranny wont go into over drive untill it reaches temp. Saturday morning, I had to drive 15 miles before the engine got warm enough to activate the overdrive. The temp outside was about 50 degrees. I dont have time right now to change the thermostat, so Im looking to see if the overdrive lockout thats tied to engine temp can be modified. Any ideas?
