So here I am, Flooring the 4Runner from first through 3rd gear, the OD is off, I need to get home quick, I've mod'ed the 4 runner with a True air intake w/ filter, w/the deck plate mod however the DP its closed. So heres my issue,

1st gear RPM till 5k 2nd gear shift, up to 5k rpm gear shift into 3rd, w/OD off still floored, the RPM's get loss around 4k still WOT. What gives? I lose the horse power..WTF?

I want to know why 3rd gear can't / won't hold the RPM's like 1st and 2nd gear? Do I need fuel mods? do I need a new Muffle like a 50 series Flo master?

Anyways, All sugestions welcome...

 

Sounds completely normal to me...

You are driving an SUV, not a sports car. If you are in 3rd @ 4000rpm you are going well over 90, what more do you want?

Anyway, not much you can do besides getting super/turbocharged.

EDIT: The TC might be locking at that RPM range too, so that could explain the "loss" you are feeling.

 

ok, Yes I know this ain'nt no Viper, I wasn't doing 90 however, wish I was... I guess more like 75.. Still a noticeable loss not holding the RPM'S like 1st -2nd gear. Just wish I had consistant RPM's. I want 3rd to be just as strong as second. What do I need to do? Super charge?

 

You could get a new car, say like a sports car or the like?

 

1. See supercharger group buy thread, or ebay and get one.

2. Go to URD's site, www.urdusa.com and purchase their fuel mod and 2.2" pulley.

See if that third gear still pisses you off...
