hello guys,

Where is the A/T oil cooler placed in the 3rd gen 4Runner? My surf doesn't have it (most japanese surfs doesn't have it).

Is the A/T oil cooler ($200+S/H) being sold by Toyotaworld.com an original toyota part? Is it a good and reliable unit and worth the price? Does the kit include all the parts I need for a complete install?

I'm surprized the surfs don't have a tranny cooler, is it because it's diesel? The stock tranny cooler is integrated into the bottom of the radiator for our gasoline trucks.

There are a couple writeups in the tech section detailing how members have installed aftermarket coolers and where they put them. Also, everybody advises to get the hayden stacked plate tranny cooler available in our local auto parts store for about $50 US. The TRD cooler is a waste of money. I'm not sure where you would get yours though.

Actually, the Surf also has the tranny cooler that's integrated into the radiator.

I was thinking that the North American 4Runner uses the radiator type ATF cooler. I was planning on buying the TRD cooler as an add-on the the radiator cooler.

Do a search for tranny coolers and you'll see what people think about the TRD cooler.
