I'm thinking a 1.5 inch lift will allow me a more aggressive stance and not hurt my driving exeperience. I have decided that a body lift is the way to go. WHat I have not figured out is what all is needed. I've searched the archives and can't really find what I'm looking for. Here is my situation.

99 4Runner 4x4
I want 1.5 inch body lift.

It seems many like Cornfed spacers. That is good because thay are within my budget. If I buy the Cornfed spacer kit for front and rear do I need anything else? Do I have to worry about elongating drive shafts or steering boxes? What about a re-alignment? HAs anybody done a "write-up" on this install or do instructions come with the spacers.

I just hate to order the spacers and realize later that I missed a whole bunch of stuff.

Cornfed spacers are not part of a body lift. A body lift only raises the body up off of the frame.

Do a search on Roger Brown, he's the best manufacturer around for body lifts.

 

just so ya know, the cornfed spacers are considered a suspension lift. The body lifts are a whole different monster, and are used best when combined with a 1" spacer lift or normal suspension lift (shocks/struts and springs or coilovers). You wont see much of a ride difference with just a 1" BL and 1" spacer lift, as you retain your stock suspension and the majority of your stock ride height above the tires. You also wont degrade your suspension life much either. The search button will tell you all you need to know Good luck!

Make sure you read all the info on his site before you order.

You will probably want kit configuration F - ultimate blocks, hardware, and fromt bumper bracket. You will also want to add in SE which is a steering shaft extension.

 

Check out the write-ups section on my website. I added a 2" Roger Brown body lift for $168 3-day shipped and cleared 285s pretty easily. A pretty straightforward DIY project.

You mention in your writeup needing to remove the front bumper. Do you think this will be needed for a 1 inch lift? Also, I don;t have to have a hydraulic lift for this do I?

 

Removing the bumper servestwo purposes:

1. There are two body mounts behind there, you need to remove it to access them.

2. You will probably want to put the bracket on to relocate the bumper up to close the newly created gap from the body mount.
