Im going with the stock FJ Cruiser steelies. they're 17x7.5.

Rolling with them because 37s are available in more sizes on a 17" rim. depending on my outcome of ride height, i'll go with a 35 or 37 after my SAS. not to mention i have to go to atleast a 16 because my FZJ80 rear axle wont work with a 15.

Wow Mak, so you got some big plans in the near future? I love FJ wheels. If I'm gonna change wheels at some point I want the 5 spoke FJ80 wheels, second choice would be 6 spoke FJC wheels.

yeah. Im seriously thinking of putting it off for now, and just focusing on other things that are expedition based. ( roof rack, snorkel, cargo box. )

I have Landcruiser coils sitting in my garage. So i might put those on, with a Uni-ball conversion up front and OME shocks all the way around. I also want to rhino line my whole truck.

the axle is sitting in my garage all rebuilt, so its not going anywhere.

I have all OME suspension, coils, and shocks. I recommend it. I also want a snorkel. Off brand ones are cheap from Japan, where are you thinking of buying?

yeah. I just put an OME steering stabilizer on and its amazing. I forget how nice it is to have new shocks/suspension. I haven't replaced my 4Runners shocks since 100k miles. im now close to 170k lol.

Dude, im seriously thinking of just rolling with a cheap ass one off Ebay... they're like 155 bucks. Even if i find one for a 22re, i'll just do my own plumbing to it.

but like I said, I was comparing your current set of tires to her current set of tires...because they are the same size, just different tires.

i vote go to a 33 or bigger with a 17" rim... Im going to be putting 17s on my truck, but im also going with 35s or 37s.
MaK92-4RnR is right not only about the re gearing but with the tire package as well if you want to stick with 17's, 285/70's are the minimum tire size i think you should go with. The owner of this runner says he's got a 2.5 inch lift with 285/70/r17 duratracs the winch bumper helps the look a lot as well.

your whole setup would really pop if you had some MT tires on for a more aggressive look. also if you do buy new tires, go for 33s. i have FJ steelies on my '02 taco and the only way to pull off the look with these wheels was with MT tires. otherwise, as you mentioned, it looks like something is off.

I would go with more tire and definitely more aggressive tread, definitely look into BFG A/T's or M/T's. Nothing wrong with 17's, I love mine!

Hey man, just in case you didn't know(a lot of people don't) BFG makes the all terrains in a 275/70/17. That's what I have on my 99 with tall coils. It's dark right now but I will try to take a pic tmrw.....It just gives you a good option when 285's may be a little too big. The 275's are 32.2", also they only come in 10 ply's, but oh well, can't have everything!! My avatar pic is with the old 265's, so just ignore that!!
