you hit the nail on the head! i think... i was driving the other day with the radio off and the windows up and i heard this very gentle sound (i dont wanna say vibrating but i guess thats what it could be) that got slightly louder and then it clicked. ive noticed that EVERY time it makes the click sound it makes the gentle vibratingish sound immediately before it. im bout to look up the brake booster you were talking about right now. what is the sound do you know?

So the answer is that it supposed to happen? I am having the very similar sound on my FJ and searched and found lots of negatives about brake booster issues. Funny thing is that it just starting happening within the last 200-300 miles and I haven't even been driving it that much.

That's a little different from the way would describe my sound. Mine clicks every 2-3 seconds only would slowing down. Not too loud, and it sounds like it is coming form left front wheel, but could very well be under the car. I have on my list to check; rocks in hub cap, grease front u-joints on cardon joint, check CVs, and finally brake booster if nothing else. I am leaning away from brake booster because I don't have that whirrr sound or vibration before click, and click is consistent. If not its still under warranty and I'll take it in. I just hate the stealership.
