I have never had a car with leather seats before and I just wanted to see how you all care for them, especially since I live in a hot/dry climate. What kind of cleaners or moisturizers are good?

 

Lexol is some of the best stuff out there IMHO.

just dont use armorall, those stuff sucks and messup your vinyl and leather.

 

Yeah I stopped using it in favor of Nu Vinyl.

 

DO NOT use armorall. That stuff makes your dash crack to high hell, and is terrible for vinyl, leather, etc. DONT DONT DONT use that.

 

I use Toyota Leather & Vinyl Cleaner for my Dash, and Meguiars Leather Cleaner for the Seats, Both work very well.

How about on the foam-rubber door seals? One has already cracked from the dryness.

 

Check out www.autopia.org. Those guys are crazy fanatics about car detailing and can teach you a lot. I use a spray bottle, filled with heavily diluted Woolite (gentle laundry detergent). I then take a fine bristled brush and scrub all of the leather surfaces. This gets all of the dirt out of the cracks and crevices, almost making them disappear like magic. I then wipe down the surfaces with a damp towel to get rid of the woolite residue, and then with a dry towel. The leather is now primed to accept the leather conditioner of your choice. Mine is the Zaino leather cream. Smells awesome!

Ha ha ha, thats the funniest reply yet. But yeah, I plan on washing and conditioning them soon.

 

Well I decided to try out Meguiars brand cleaner/conditioner and it works pretty well. It felt greasy for an hour or so but then the leather soaked it all up. It really brought the middle armrest/console lid back to life.

 

For the leather I recomend Zymol leather cleaner and conditioner. They are reasonably priced all natural products that do a great job. Here in MA both products are available at Target in the automotive section. I got some leather seats out of a wrecked Runner and they had been exposed to the elements for a while, I cleaned them a few times, then let them bake in the sun and conditioned them, they came out great, softness came back and all the stains came out.

For the rubber in the door jams silicone spray works good. Clean the seals with mild soap and water then wet a towel with silicone and apply it, they will never dry out.
