Sabre: I don't want it in a single din headunit because I don't like how most of the single din units don't have the ability to play cd's, you have to have a seperate cd-changer to play cds. At least I was under this impression because most I've seen are this way.
Plus I'm pretty sure I could do this for less than what they want for a decent quality brand din sized unit. I got an extra dash that I could try this out on too. Not only that but when it gets cold outside it would give me something to do inside and still be working on the truck... sorta. Not only that but its stealth.

All of those installs were excellent.
The tough part is that the technology is changing so fast and the enclosures so specific that it is really tough to have something really slick yet still cutting edge for very long.
I like the lifebook idea and I think the intergration of laptops will be the cutting edge for quite a while. PDAs are slowly creaping up ont their technology too so soon you may just need an interface for the vehicle and you take your "computer" with you. The good thing about using the superlight laptops is that they ahve done considerable R&D to make it as small as possible so the integration becomes that much easier....tough part is that the video cable can't be too long because the voltages to the display are quite small.
I look forward to seeing more ideas like you all are presenting!
