LCA Bushing Replacement?
#21
See, I figured as much, but then why doesn't energy list them for both applications? If you have a product in production, it is hugely advantageous to find all it's applications. It's free money. Why don't they list it for the 4runner too. It seems the test fitting would be well worth the extra income.

Took my arms out and handed them to the machine shop along with the bushings (replaced entire bushing). Went out and played while they messed with them.
When I pulled them I was actually doing cvs. I had already taken enough apart for the cv job and got a little out of control. From my build thread:
"That's as far as I am right now. Silly me decided to go ahead and pull the lower a-ams to get new bushings pressed in. How hard can it be, right?
So now I've taken out the diff drop, lowered the belly pan, unbolted the rack and pinion, undid the outer tie rods and sway links, unbolted the lower shock bolts, unbolted the lower a-arms....."
And that's all I've written on it. I have one of those lifetime alignment deals. Got 'em out, back, in and aligned in 2 1/2 days. Seems to me I loosened the upper a-arm bolt to get the thing to droop to make it easier to get it all back together? I forget. I've got stock uppers, though.

I just replaced mine with Energy Suspension bushings. What a PITA. Took 7 hours with 3 guys because you need to get the bushing out without pressing out the outer sleeve, then you need to get all the rubber off the inner lobe so you can put it through the new bushing. I had to burn and grind and burn and grind until i couldnt see straight.
If I had to do this again i would definatley use OEM bushings and just press the whole sleeve out. Or buy low mileage arms and swap them in.

I still haven't gotten around to replacing them, just because I know it's gonna be a complete nightmare.
For those of you replacing with new OEM bushings, where are you getting them? I've been told that the dealer doesn't offer them because they are not considered a seperate part from the LCA's and are considered a lifetime non-serviceable part.

My local parts guy sourced them locally. They were even cheap. Quality? Dunno, haven't had them on long. So far the clunk is GONE.
For my 96:
Karlyn Control Arm Bushing - Front Lower Front
Part Number: W0133-1742105
and
First Equipment Quality Control Arm Bushing - Front Lower Rear
Part Number: W0133-1742106
I've seen them on Parts Geek too but I don't know anything more about it than that.

The bushings are separate parts. You can buy them from the dealer. Since these parts are time-consuming to replace, i would go for oem parts for reliability/durability. But i'm not saying that all aftermarket parts aren't durable/reliable.
