Awsome. I will be joining the club on Tues or Wed. I can tell you that you got a smoking deal on those wheels. I paid a lot more but am hoping they are in near perfect condition and they came with the funky lugs and caps. Tires are already here(BFG MT 285's)

I just like the look of factory rims.

 

Yeah, those wheels do look great. I got my appointment this Wednesday to put them on with my new tires. I will take plenty of pictures. (I also have scheduled another alignment --- my last one which was only about a month ago is already out.)

JHupp- I posted an ad about 2-3 months ago looking for LC wheels...I think I got my hit from Ih8mud.com from a guy who had his wheels hiding in a corner of a garage for awhile...He was very cool with me and let them go for a great price. They came from California. My ad sat for about a month before I got any response.

Dexter- I think the silver look will match my trim alot better than white or black. If I had black bumpers, and no Limited silver flares then I would consider it...but I am keeping them original for the flowwwwwww......

I just repainted most of my frame and rear axle. Makes a huge difference. I also wired up some reverse lights and removed my speaker box and spare tire (I couldn't stand how the spare looked undernieth). I am planning on moving my spare into the back cargo area with a mount which will be fabbed up hopefully by a friend (if he has time). I flipped my cargo mat upside down so the rubber is exposed and should resist stains, etc.

My LC wheels are going on tomorrow!!!

Did you just take out a rattle can and go to town? Are there any areas to be careful around? I'd love to freshen up my undercarriage. Let me know how you did it.

I crawled under with a flat head screw driver and hard wire brush and chipped away the rust that bubbled under a few areas on my pumpkin, axle, etc. I bought the more expensive paint that was about 4.50 a can (Rust preventor, etc) I used gloss black because I feel that with a smooth glossy surface, things tend not to stick as much when compared to flat black.

I was careful not to spray on any lube points, shocks, etc... I just sprayed away with about 2-3 coats. Make sure you use a high pressure hose to knock off any mud or winter sludge before you paint.

Looks awsome.

Repainted my center caps last night and picked up the 5th 285 for the spare tire. I am going to try to get all 5 mounted and balanced today after work.

Seems like the valve stems are closer to the edge of the rim than on the 5star rims. I am going to ask for the shortest v stems I can get at the tire shop.

What air pressure are you running in your 285/75/16's ?

I have a 265/75/16 for a spare right now... is that good enough or is it bad to run a smaller tire if needed?

What type of paint and color did you use on your center caps... how did you prep them, etc.

 

Wow, that looks great. I have come to the conclusion that the LC wheels look good as long as you have good lift and big tires. There's a 3rd gen right by my work w/ LC wheels and no lift w/ stock sized tires. It just looks OK.

Now Bamachem, Fink, Roofgoof, etc., the LC wheels look HARD!!!!

What brand of paint and what color are folks using to match the factory color on the center caps? I need to paint a few centercaps to match a set of Limited five stars.

I am going to the store soon and take a center cap with me...I plan on "sampling" silver/grey colors until I match something close . I'll post something if I find a brand/color.

OK...I am in the process of getting these caps back to looking mint. Here is my process so far.

I sanded down the center caps using 220 sandpaper. Cleaned them off using water and allowed to dry. I then used the following:

PRIMER WHITE and ALUMINUM spray color from the local Home Depot.


PRIMED 2 light coats


This is how they looked before the process.


Comparision between stock color (Limited wheel cap vs. my new painted LC cap) pretty close.... I will go back with a paint marker or small brush and paint in the Toyota symbol at some point.


To be continued --- hopefully they will look good with the wheels. I will probally put a total of 2-3 coats of aluminum color on.
