Since my lift was put on ( 4inch front procomp IFS lift and rear LC Coils) I am getting a driveline vibration between 50-60 mph. Anyone else with this issue? Solutions / tips, etc ?

did you get alignment or thrust alignment?

 

How's your pinion angle?

 

Alignment was done and steering is tight....its totally somewhere in the driveline. The best way I can describe it is a low pitch "vrum vrum vrum vrum" over and over between 50-60mph.

Jim, whats the best way to measure the pinion angles? I'll crawl under it tomorrow and take a look.

Write up? You just have to grease all the zerks. I think the front DS has 3 total and the rear has 5.

 

I dont have my factory manual any longer so I was interested in making sure I got the right grease. ( I believed the 3rd generations used 2 different types of grease ).... just wanted to get it right.

THIS IS FROM THE WRITE UP - Does anyone have their 1999 manual handy to see if this is true for the 99 as well ? Apparently in 2000 it was changed.

I just use regular chassis grease on mine. I guess its lithium, im not really sure

I also find it extremely satisfying to lube the zerks. Hearing that popping sound at the end makes me all giddy inside.

 

Hey Ian, with all of that lift you have do you get any type of vibration from the driveline ?

 

i seriously doubt your vibration is caused by the LC coils. many people have had them in and no vibration.

that 4 inch procomp lift on the front, thats another story. you need to check your pinion angles up front, and dropping the front diff that much (i assume this procomp lift drops the front diff with a new truss, to save your cv angles) could cause the pinion angle to be incorrect if it was installed incorrectly, or the they did not correct the pinion angle.

 

You do use MP or chassis grease, but it's not lithium grease.
Any good multi purpose grease with Molybdenum should do fine.

 

Your front driveline does not spin when in 2wd. The CV's do though. But, since his CVs are straighter than a spring/spacer lift, then its not that.

I would assume that since he does not know much about lubing that it is indeed a lubing problem in the rear!

Nope, I've had no vibration issues back there. I keep it nice and lubed though.

Oh I thought it was lithium, my bad. I just use the stuff that I've had in my lube gun for the last 10 years.

 

I am going to check with STEVE-O. He had the lift on before me...I wonder if he had any vibrations?
