Larger Tires & ABS

I have always been told that you cannot increase the tire size dramatically w/o adjusting the ABS computer (2-3 inch increase). Is this true? If so, how do I go about doing so? If not, what has been your experience?

Thanks to all.

I dunno

I dunno, I went from 31" to 33". I haven't ever tried to do an emergency stop, but I did definately notice a difference in braking. It doesn't stop as quickly with the bigger tires. Maybe I should get 12" kevlar brakes pads and drilled slotted rotors... Honestly though, you can have bigger tires and it will brake, just not as smoothly or as well. The higher you go the more you are likely to roll too. Maybe this was a pointless post, sorry if it didn't answer your question, but just so ya know there is a noticable difference in how the 4Runner handles with bigger tires.
