Just got 32's trying to fix a few problems...

Well I just got my 32's and have a few problems. All problems are on the front of the truck.

- They rub on the front of the running boards
- They rub on the sway-bar with chains on

To fix the running board problem I was planing on triming them back about 1/2" to 3/4". Then they would clear fine. For the sway-bar problem they clear it fine without the chains on but rub a little with the chains on. All I think I would need is about 3/4" to 1" wheel spacers and it will clear fine.

I found 1" wheel spacers at Marlin Crawler and was wondering if anyone knew of 3/4" wheel spacers?

those bolt up wheel spacers are exspensive, a different wheel would nearly be the same price, cheaper if you went steel.

Sort of OT, but anyway, I was looking at my old chains to see if they'd fit on my 4th gen. I was surprisesd to see that the UCA (balljoint) is less than a fingerwidth from the inside wall of the tire (factory). Seriuosly. My index finger will not pass between the gap, and I have skinny fingers! Needless to say, I'm not gonna risk using chains on the front now. It just blows me away they designed this with such a tight tolerance level for a 4-wheeler. Do the Toy engineers not no that some of us 4-wheelers like to use chains on our front so we can actually have some control when on snow/ice? I was always been amazed at how well the Japanese engineer things, until I saw that.

I am wanting to keep the stock look that my wheels give for now. So I figure wheel spacers are my best bet. I assume that the 1" wheel spacers space each wheel out 1" not each one 1/2" for a total of 1"?

you have to consider that when you put the wheel spacers on they will make the wheel stick back farther when turned all the way so you may have to do some more trimming on your running boards

Well I just finished trimming the runningboards and there is no rubbing now!

Spacers are around $100 a pair, thats a lot cheaper than wheels, unless you get the dirt cheap wheels.

Chains on the front wheels. Sounds scary, Iwould be afraid of them getting caught up in suspension/steering components. Not to mention my manual says not to run chains on the front.

I only run chains on the front while im out hunting, which is usually in about a foot or more of snow and I need the front "grab". I used to run chains on the front with the 235's and the chains cleared the suspension fine so I have no worries now that it will hit the suspension with the 32's and now that I trimmed the running boards they shouldnt hit anywhere!

I agree, if you get into a situation where you really need chains, you really need em on the front.

Why didn't you just take the running boards off? It gives a much cleaner and more aggressive look to the rig...probably one of the best and easiest (except for having to cut a bolt off) mods I have done to date.

But I'm glad you got the running board rub fixed.

I will most likely replace them with slider eventally but the wife complained that she couldnt get in with the added hight of the 32's, I doubt she would ride in the rig anymore if I took off the running boards! Then Id be forced to drive the mall wagon!
