Smile Just completed DRL switch mod!

I just finished wiring in a Toyota Factory illuminated fog switch ($8.00 from my local Toyota Dealer who had it in one day). I used 14 gauge automotive electrical wire, 2 crimp connectors, 3 female spade crimp connectors, 1 crimp lug type connector (for the ground).

The directions from the various links I found here were very helpful.

I should note that although my DRL relay box was in the same position as the instructions state, my box was grey without any sticker or writing on it whatsoever. The wire I cut was located in slot #2 of the connector (if you look close you can see the little numbers).

The switch really looks nice, and the whole job took 45 min start to finish. The light illuminates when the DRLs are on... very nice! I am a lawyer, not an electrician, and if I can do it anyone can!

By the way, my 4runner is a 2000 limited, one of the first to have DRL I believe. I will keep the switch on 99% of the time, but that 1% will be sweet glory when I can just pop that switch and off they go!!!

Cool.
When I mentioned the other day in that Fresh Tech thread a switch might work, I am glad to see that someone tried it.

Those Toyota switches are great too.
I run three of them for my extra lights.

And at $8.00 a pop, how can you beat it? Performance Products wants like $49.00 for a Hella Fog light switch...unbelievable!

Corey...thanks for all the info you have posted to help newbies like myself. I cannot wait to do me next mod.

The clear corners and clear bumper lenses were the first mod I did, and I am waiting for the chrome plated amber bulbs so I am legal but still have the clear look.

What if......

What if you connect that removed wire to the fogs or the turn signals, would they turn ON?
