JDM engines???

Has anyone had any experience with engines from Attarco? I did a search and only found one response (negative).

Also, I read that 22re engines were never made for Japanese version Toyotas. So where are JDM 22re engines coming from? Is this a myth. Pls enlighten me.

My 88 Hilux Surf (4Runner) has the 3Y-EU fuel injected, gasoline, 2000cc engine. Has good power and has a good reprutation for lasting a long time - also used in Toyota Lite Ace and town ace vans which were sold in the states too.

If you need more info I may be able to find out for you.

there's no such thing as a JDM 22R or 22RE...most people who fall into this end up getting a 21RU, which is a 2.0L motor.

i don't know much about the Y engines, except that they aren't crossflow(intake and exhaust ports on the same side). aren't they OHV as well? i know the 4Y is currently used in forklifts in north america

I should go out and take a couple of pics. I have done some minor mods to pep it up - Flowmaster 50 series, Cold Air Intake - (Homemade). Is OHV - Overhead Valve?

yep, OHV is overhead valve, generally identified with pushrod motors. is the cam over the head on the Y engine or below it?

my 1987 hilux surf has a 3y-eu, very good motor but struggles on the hills unless of course you use the lower gears, economy is very good too. it hs done 345000 km and does not use oil and feels as strong as the day I got it at 70,000 km s.
