Who's left? I think it's David (Mad Chem) and one other person.

I know David's been busy with a bunch of stuff, I;ll drop him a line locally and remind him.

I tried to order some plastic rope already but the one guy would not call me back. That was the guy with the orange rope.

Who the hell are you buying from now since that other guy does not want to sell me anything?

In specific, it looks like most folks are going with the 3/8" line:

Wayne: Thanks for letting us get a great deal on the ropes! Also, can you add a hook for me? Thanks!

You'd better call him if you want something added! He's a self-professed non-Forum junkie and doesn't get here too often.

Rope came in today. But its wet. The outside of the box is dry, but the rope, reciept, and the inner lining of the box is wet.

I layed it out on the deck to dry. Also I ran out and got a new screw for where the rope attaches to the winch. The thimble piece is to thick for the original screw.

So does the synthetic rope have to wound back in as neatly as the original one was? Or can I lay it in there "pretty evenly"?

My guess is you want to respool it under tension, just like you should with steel cable. You don't really want it nice and evenly wound. This increases the likelihood of an outer wrap slipping down in between inner wraps when under tension, and can cause problems the next time you try to spool out line. Just my understanding....

So mount the winch on the bumper, wire it up and then spool the rope back in under tension?

Yup, that's at least the way your supposed to do it with steel, but I'm not positive with synthetic.

glad you got it i tried to have it to by saturday but they could not guarantee it. it was wet due to all of this beautiful north east weather and i have to measure it outside due to the lengths but it wont hurt it one bit. i always recommend to spool it up just like a steel cable but its good habit to spool it up neatly so it doesnt get bunched up.

thanks
