I recently won a hitch off of ebay...it is a factory hitch but doesnt come with the bolts. what type of bolts should i use? grade etc.. also is it a simple bolt it right up install. ill probably take it to uhaul to have the wiring harness installed. also how much can a 2nd gen v6 tow...i dont have the factory manual to check. thanks in advance..

 

i think the towing capacity on 2nd gens is 3500 lbs

 

You should use grade 8 bolts...As far as size, you will just have to see how big the wholes are and go from there. Odds are pretty good that all of the holes are already in your frame, but you will need to crawl under there and hold the hitch up to the frame, just to be sure. Some of the holes may already be threaded, or have a nut welded to theinside of the frame. If so, these will be metric, and you'll have to get a thread guage or thread tap to see what size they are. Remember, metric bolts are measure by pitch (thread courseness) and mm diameter.

iam down in las cruces...any idea how many bolts are under there...also where does one find bolts..home depot..etc

 

I think there are 3 or 4 on each side. I would go to a hardware store like Ace or True Value, before I went to Home Depot. Their bolt selection isn't always the best.

I spent a lot of time in Cruces, as I grew up In T. or C. It sure has changed alot since I was living at home full time...I have an uncle in Cruces who owns a Scuba shop.

 

FYI, when I bought my Hidden Hitch, it also came with some frame reinforcing brackets. I don't know if you need them with yours, but that's how mine came.

 

I dont know if the method of the install would be the same, but, on my Taco, I took off the bumper and reused the same bolts to Hook up the hitch and the bumper back on the frame. And there were 4 of them. Bolts that is.

After my stock trailer wiring control box fried, I ordered it. Very simple plug in connectors to existing harness.

As for the hitch there are 3 bolts per side, I can't remember the size but the wrench size is 19mm.
