Intake scilencer removal mod

I took advantage of the Intake scilencer removal mod and am pleased with the results. but, instead of using a cap in the front of the intake tube, I trimmed a spray paint lid to fit over the factory 'baffle' with the vacuum lines. then, i drilled the lid with 3 (three) 1/8 inch holes then, put it back on the tube. it saved me from having to add nipples to the lid, and it looks factory.

(just figured i'd pass on the info.)

So let me caution you on using a spray paint lid. I went this route on my Tacoma a long time ago and over time the lid warped from the heat (and the clamp pressure) and actually created a vacuum leak, which made my engine run poorly. In fact, I ran a SCH40 end cap on my 4Runner and that too warped. So I finally went with a SCH40 threaded cleanout plug and that did the trick. Been running it for 4+ years now with no issues. It's way stronger than any other plastic method.

Why not spend the $3 and get something that will last? I got a black one at Lowe's I think.
