Instrument panel lights

2002 4Runner SR5

The instrument panel lights (only the tach and speedo) are not working. I verified all the fuses were good. My tail lights are working. Also the license plate lights are not working.

Most logical would be a fuse but all are good.

Anybody had this issue.

Thanks

Burned out bulbs? A trailer wiring kit doing weird things? You checked fuses under the hood and the in-cabin driver side fuse box fuses for continuity? Sometimes a visual inspection does not reveal a bad fuse.

Yeah used a meter to verify the fuses. Could be burned out bulbs but all at once seems odd. I was hooked up to a trailer recently but all of those lights seemed to be working properly. I will verify that again though.

Does rheostat bring other lights up and down? If not, investigate a possible problem there. Our trucks are at the age where those things start to go.

Looks like it might be all the bulbs burned out. Pulled the 2 for the license plate and both burned out and 12 volts in the socket. Have'nt had a chance to open up the dash yet but I will have bulbs on hand.

Wonder if it took a surge somehow.
