Instrument Cluster

Instrument Cluster
Got an 89 4runner and I'm interested in knowing if I can swap the basic cluster I have now with one that has a tach and some of the other gauges. Is it worth it or should I just buy separate aftermarket gauges?

I was also wondering this, i want to get a runner in that gen, and i've seen some with a center console with the altimeter, leveler thing, and maybe a compass or the tach, not sure where it is, but if i find a truck without the tach or center console, how easy and expensive is it to get that stuff??

You can simply swap the cluster. You'll only have to hook up the tach. Search for it, it's been talked about many times here. (I'd tell you if I remembered the details...) The pod on the top of the dash had a clinometer (2 gauges, one for turn and bank and one for rate of climb/descent) and an altimeter. Good one too, calibratable for atmospheric pressure. The clinometer is cool as h*ck but really totally useless except to entertain passengers (here's a tip - if you ever roll it over, look quick at the clinometer - then don't tip that that far next time, LOL) but I really liked having an altimeter, since I play in some nice mountains. They go on ebay every now and then. Expect to pay dearly for it though.
