installing third member - question

i'm right in the middle of installing my 4.88s that someone setup for me in a spare carrier they had. i just noticed thought that this new carrier isn't setup for a speed sensor for ABS brakes which my truck has. Can I keep on going or do I have to find a new carrier?

Your choices are get a new third member or live without the ABS but live with all the potential legal liabilities.

Lots of people go either way.

I have never heard of anybody drilling a hole for the sensor, but I've never looked either.

never heard of legal liabilities of removing ABS . . . i used a non ABS diff for a long time never had ANY problems. i never understood why they would put ABS on just the rears of my truck, if i had my choice id rather be able to steer under heavy braking

The potential is there if you get in an accident and they find out you intentionally disabled your abs. The purpose of rear abs is to keep the front of the vehicle in the front. If the rear locks up before the front, the vehicle will have a tendency to swap ends, especially on slick surfaces.
