O.k., so I am trying to decide if I should get extended warranty. Have a 99 SR5 4runner, 2WD, Auto, with 91k miles. I have a quote from a reputed company for $1650, zero deductible, unlimited mileage for 4years.

The question I have is, has there been on average, items on the runner that have gone bad to warrant a warranty at that mileage. What are the typical items that have gone bad or I can expect to go bad in about additional 40k miles, and cost associated with fixing stuff.
Thanks for all the info!

What does the warranty cover? Drivetrain only? or is bumper to bumper?

I would never get an extended warranty. Statistically speaking, they are a waste of money on a vehicle with an excellent quality record.

$1650.00, is WAY TOO MUCH!!!

There is a lot of money to be made on extended warranties! I paid $599 for the Toyota Platinum warranty.

You can bargain for warranty price just like you bargain on the sticker price of a new 4Runner. I would call around some more or even seen what your local dealer can do.

I paid 300 for mine and within a month they paid three grand for my headgaskets. Not a bad deal in my opinion. 1650 is a little steep, I'd see what they quote for just powertrain.
