I'm on the Travel Channel, Tues Dec. 9
The Travel Channel videoed me ice racing last February. My thread from Feb on 4x4wire is here. It's finally getting on the air this week. Looks like it'll be shown:
Tues, Dec 9 at 9pm ET
Wed, Dec 10 at 12am (midnight) ET - that's Tuesday night for most of us.
Sat, Dec 13 at 3pm ET
Link to their web site description of it.
It looks like my class of "bare rubber street stock" racing will be one of the less exciting segments of the hour. But oh well, I won 2nd place and my friend Corbin drove my 4Runner to a 3rd place finish despite MT/R's and my 4Runner's extra weight with off-road mods. So there should be at least some video of me and my 4Runner. :C
Looks like they wisely scheduled an hour called "Extreme 4x4" right after the ice racing hour, too.

Bump for this evening.
If anyone's interested in the ice racing web site, it's http://www.iceracing.homestead.com/
Here's an old pic from a couple years ago.

By my count, you will only have the Georgetown races on for 10 minutes after this commercial.
I really dug the furniture stuff, Whitefish is a cool place. If Colorado and Arizona fall through, that is a place I could dig.
Jeff, I told my dad your rig was going to be on and that it was on the Travel Channel, so even my father has turned on the TV to take part in this. He rarely even watches the news.

Saw Corbin and what looked like Mike's runner behind him.
Thought I saw your rig by a Disco when the other ones were tearing around.
Is John Gleason related to Brian and I forget his father's name. Brian has a white Jeep and his father drives a black Sami? Good folks even if they are not .
Now they are replaying the old wheeling one. Guess this paper get throw off even more...

Woooowooooo, I was in the background for 5 seconds. Yeah! That was me strategically parked behind Corbin during his interview. Snow was packed in my wheels from all the action that didn't make it on TV.
Not only did they not show any of the bare rubber races, they only showed about 10 seconds of the studs races. Most of it was the cheaters. You could say that was disappointing.

Adrenaline does amazing things. I've broken 6 bones, cut off my ear, and tons of sprains. Sprains definately hurt the most. I was running purely off adrenaline for the others.

Bummer Jeff. I just got home from work so I missed everything. Sounds like there wasn't much to miss though. Hopefully I can get to a few races this season. Maybe i'll see you and the crew there.

Hope to see you up there sometime, Matt.
So I was thinkin'... I know they took a lot of footage of the other classes of ice racing the rest of that weekend. But because they didn't even acknowledge the existence of those classes (studs and bare rubber), it would seem like they're saving those up for an Episode # 2 with some more ice races from around the nation. I've heard of races in New York and Alaska, so there's certainly others around that they might find. Maybe, just maybe....

What a crappy show. It looked like they played a lot of the same footage over and over. And the footage quality, editing and narration left a lot to be desired.
I taped it and watched it a couple times, but I didn't see Corbin. Hmmm.
My dad asked why there was no coverage of the bar stool races. That's a good question. That has as much human interest as the furniture races.
Also, on the winch thing, did you guys notice the guy passed out when he saw his mangled hand? What a horrible thing that was. I could hardly watch it.
I don't have winch, so I don't know exactly what was going on. Do any of you know why they couldn't pull it out. Was that a freak thing? Why wouldn't the motor spool back out?
