You must have been really attached to that truck. It didn't make your sig.

lol. Hardly. I spent more time under the hood than driving it. Towards the end I was wondering if I had gone crazy, thinking that the truck was running at full potential, or if I was imagining having no power and a horrible sounding engine.

If you spend a lot of time in Anza Borrego you probably don't want the leather seats. You could probably trade someone else in SD straight across for them. I don't know what the weather down in baja is like but from growing up in El Centro I've come to hate leather seats.

I just noticed your sig then found this thread, welcome back! I knew that little pickup wouldn't cut it for you, not after owning that beast Runner you had before!

Thanks Mauzer.

So I did some "modding" today... I took off the running boards, installed a new stereo and found that my battery is old.... thus explaining my "long" starts.

So Baja, you are good to good now? I am glad it was as simple as the battery. If the fuel pressure was OK, I would have told ya to begin looking at the battery cables.

Just replace the filter and call it a good, semi cheap job done....

I haven't got the new battery in yet, but it seems pretty apparent to me the battery is shot. I ran my stereo for about 5 minutes with the car not running and then it would barely start! I am going to go buy a blem Interstate today

Well I am getting some 265/75/16 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I have some FZJ80 rims but they are not as "nice" as my stock rims. DO you guys think I should get the Nitto's put on the 80 series rims anyways and paint?

Baja,

Did a new battery solve your starting woes?

As for the rims, I'm old school and say stay stock. I do like the Nittos TGs as a tire....

The battery solved a little bit, but still didn't make an incredible difference. :/

I say paint the LC wheels but thats because I hate the tri-spokes (no offense). Plus its so easy to paint rims and we all know your fully capable so quite being lazy. Sell those tri-spoke with the stock wheels and start lifting!

Baja,

Here was the thread I was refering to the other day. The FSM covers everything. I'd get someone to turn the key over while feeling the fuel line from the tank to the filter. If the pump is working correctly, you should be able to feel the fuel flow immediately after the key is turned over.

Yeah I painted the LC80 rims aluminum with Duplicolor. They came out really nice actually. I will mount my 265/75/16 Nitto's on them. I can't get the tires till Friday though. (Noone has them in load range D, only E) The day before I leave for Mexico. Bah!

Alright J2F42C I will check out that thread! Thank you!

Lookin good man! The Dupicolor silver really does come out nicely, I refinished my LC's in the same.

Ha! Man that is awesome! I was really freaked out when i started sanding down the factory finish. I was hoping the aluminum color would come out good. The factory wheels I got were pretty bad with clear coat chipping, and since I didn't have any tires on them, I thought I'd paint them. I am sorta over the black rims, so I went with silver.

I actually used "aluminum" color. Did you use just "silver"? They look the same. Duplicolor is my favorite!!

Baja,

Your runner is progressing nicely. Did you get all the quirks ironed out such as the hard starting or are those irons still in the fire?

You can't beat Duplicolor for most DIY painiting IMHO....
