Got a 96 4runner and the key would not turn all the way back to off. I could jiggle it and no luck. Well sometimes it would release. More often you could go back a little later and it would turn back off. Replaced switch and still no luck same thing. Anyone familiar with this.

 

Auto trans? Try pushing the shifter more forward like past park and see if that does anything.

 

I have same problem on my 96 4Runner. Does not happen all the time and I forget what I do to get key out?

 

I have tried that it works sometimes. Is there any kind of adjustment

 

I have a 96, my key cylinder got all jammed up too and wouldn't turn over at all. Ended up having to get it towed to dealer pay all kinds of labor for them to try and un jam it...ended up replace the whole thing...so weak boulder toyota sucks!

EDIT: works great for over 3 years now lmao

 

Could be a worn out key. Try the spare.

 

Put in a brand-new cylinder new keys and everything it still hangs up When I go from ACC to lock
