IFS 4" lift flex question

Does installing one of the IFS 4" lift kits increase the suspension flex at all? Or is it still the same just with more clearance. It seems most the pics I see of trucks with the 4" lift never look like they flex that great.

It only really increases clearance, because the brackets just drop the whole IFS... To increase flex you need the low profile bump stops and shocks that will allow it.

Quick question: what kind of lights do you have mounted on your bumper in your avatar? Good?

They just drop the whole front end down for lift. Some will even lose flex because they stiffen up the t-bar. There are some ways to increase flex on the IFS.
1. Ball joint spacers (the best IMHO because you can really back-off on the t-bar adjustment)

2. Sway bar discos

3. Cross-linked air shocks

4. lower profile bumper stops

their theory is lower the diff so you can install bigger tires...

you might get a half an inch or so increase...

get a solid axle or a wider arms kit for increase in travel.

Travel is only a tiny bit more, and as said above bumpstops are a must and of course the new shocks should be long enough to allow travel. Disconnecting the swaybar is the real key. Huge difference!

Those lights are OK. I can't remember what brand they are, but I just wanted some extra light so I bought them at Wal-Mart for like $20. Definately not the best, but they work and are easy to install.

I second that. I've got everything there but the cross-linked air shocks and my front end is nice and soft. Of course I've got the Rancho 3" kit and Rancho T-Bars. I might do the cross-linked air shocks because I just found out my shocks are limiting my travel right now.

These kits can greatly increase the window of travel (they are super easy to mod for about 12" of travel) but you are still up against the fairly high spring rates of stock torsion bars.

The air shocks are probably the best bang for the buck.(I assume we all disconnect our swaybars to wheel.. kinda like airing down, something you just do) I could use about 9-10" of my 12 or so inches of travel with air shocks as opposed to about 6-7" without.

I haven't tried it with the air shocks and ball joint spacers yet. I expect it to be better but don't know how much. I still need to aquire some parts the theives that stole my truck last labor day removed before dumping it on a street corner before I can wheel again.

an ifs isnt going to get you more travel without upgrading it, in the form of aforementioned methods.... IFS is that, its design does not incorporate travel, not unless you plan on spending more $ on it to add different parts..... if travel is of utmost importance, do an SAS

OTT- how do you like the rear feel with that setup? Mine is way too stiff and I'm looking to change.
