Yall should consider getting new wire harnesses before you use those bulbs, i used to have hyper white bulbs for my headlights and fogs and they blew out rather quickly. manage

EVerybody keeps saying I have THOSE bulbs, but which ones are we talking about, the PIAA's or the MotionR's?

will it make a difference since I have the foggy older version light housing? will it look bad? Will I need a new wiring harness or can I just put in the new bulbs?

On a whim, I just bought a set of these:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=2430936582

For $15, I figured I'd give them a shot. I prefer the look of 5000k versus 6000k anyway. I'll post feedback into this thread once I get them.

Have you seen the MotionR 6000 lights at www.Motionr.com? They claim they have the brightest light around, but I can't find anyone that has them.

They're up on eBay - those are the lamps that Zach originally posted about in this thread:

But at 6000K, you're pretty far into the blue hue, which I don't care for. I wanted more white, which is what the 5000K lamps will give you.

The Kelvin (the "K" number) rating is "color temperature", not intensity. Here's some background:

Awesome Mark! I just looked at it and it looks like if I wanted the whitest possible clear light, the best Color Temperature would be some 4000K's right? Now how do I determine it's actually light effectiveness or penetration of the darkness? I want the brightest usable light, and could care less about the lookbeing blue. I don't want blue; I want bright as hell and not yellow!

Ok, here's a request that would be a pain in the butt, but it would be greatly appreciated. I would love to see what the light looks like from inside the car, both with the low beams on and then the high beams when it's real dark out. Also, what would be ideal is to have the same pictures but with the stock lights, with the vehicle and everything about the situation the same. Pictures from just in front of the windshield just as if I was looking at your window.

How much would I have to pay you for that comparison???? I'm serious!

IMPORTANT!!!

THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT!!! AFTER HAVING NO TROUBLE WITH THE MOTIONR BULBS FOR A YEAR, NOW ANY 90/100W H4 BULB WILL NOT WORK IN MY HEADLIGHTS!!! THE 80/100W BULBS WILL STILL WORK, BUT THE ONES WITH THE 90W LOW BEAMS WILL NOT! DO NOT GET THESE!!! I AM RENOUNCING MY ORIGINAL CLAIM, THEY WILL MESS UP YOUR WIRING, ONLY IT WILL TAKE ABOUT A YEAR.

That's weird and I'm glad you found that out for all of us! Any reason why it happened?

No clue, I guess the relay wouldn't support 90W after having supported it for so long. First one of them wouldn't work, and then 2 days later the other one wouldn't work. It's not a horrible thing, I just put some 80/100W headlights and I'm fine, but I just wanted to give everyone a warning. The first one went out 4 days ago, on Monday (09/08/03), and the second one went out Wednesday. They were nice when they worked though. I might try the HID conversion kit sometime in the future, but I'm not too worried about it. The ones in there now are fine.

Was the usable light more than the stock lights, meaning when driving was it much easier to see because it was brighter and more light than the stock ones? How about in the rain and fog?

Well, whenever you get a blue tinted bulb, you lose some of the "usable light" due to the blue filter on the bulb. My reasoning was that with them having the blue tint and a higher wattage, the higher wattage would make up for the light lost in the blue filter. I think in this case they were a bit brighter than stock headlights.

I'm running the Catz galaxy whites . Their temp is 4300k and they have a hint of purple, not blue. The bulb itself,( if you're looking at it in your hand) has a gold reflective surface. Not some blue colored ricer bulb. Here's a pic of my lamp and yes they look blue, but actually it looks multi-color in the lamp. I tried taking some night pics but my camera sucks. A friend gave these to me when he traded his truck for a GTI so he could'nt use them. I've had them installed for about 15 months and he had them for a year or so before giving them to me. If and when they burn out I will definatly order more. They are the closest to HID that I've seen so far. Especially since they're a faint purple. I don't sell them just wanted some of you guys to know about them if you did'nt already.

Soo....I really wanna buy something right now......which bulbs should I get?? haha. I kinda want the blueish/purpleish look because it gives it more of a HID look.

Silverstars? Catz? PIAA's??

I'm sooo lost

edit: "All bulbs are for show or off road use only" So that means no-no on the street?

In short, for the $15 I paid, I'm happy.
