idea for mod

does anyone know if you can move the cup holders down to where the 99's have them and also does anyone know if i can get the instrument panels like the 99's to fit in the 96?? thanks!

I was pondering this same question and looked at it quite seriously b/c I have both a 99 and 98 in my possession (until Monday). I know EXACTLY what you're thinking of doing. While I'm not sure it can't be done, there are a few things I discovered that would make it very difficult.

First, the e-brake is offset to the right in the 99 whereas the 98 is centered.

Second, the placement of the A/C vents would prevent you from utilizing the 99.

Third and I'm guessing here...I can almost bet you that the 99 uses different relays.

Now, I think you might be able to work the center arm rest thing and the cupholder provided you can unbolt the e-brake and off set it to the right. The center console IMHO, is not worth the effort.
