I need help please!!! Engine miss.

I am also new here so i hope you guys can help me out. So i have a 1998 toyota tacoma 3.4 v6. So my problem is that it started shaking as we were going down the interstate the other day (really bad) and also it made a weird noise that i have never heard before right before it started missing and shaking. So i drove it home and put a code reader on it and it had the 300 and 301 and 306 codes. I have changed the plugs wires and plugs with nkg. And after i changed them i reset everything and now i only get 301 code. And also on cyl #1 the spark plug was sluggy and had gas all over it so it is not firing the other five did not look like this they were dry. I did take the plug wires off and check the fire and cyl #1 has a totally different firing sound it is like a machine gun going off to where as the other two are firing a lot slower. Could it be the coil pack? I did ohm the injectors and got 16 ohms on them dont know how accurate that is.Could it be a sensor, headgasket, valves? I am stuck and i am not a mechanic so any help would be appreciated..

I'd try swapping the coil packs around to see if the miss follows the coil pack. If so then you have your answer.
If the plug was wet and you have unburnt gas in your exhaust/ cats you could possibly ruin the cat.

Ok I will do that. When you say that it will move which i fully understand will i have to read the code again or is there some other way of nowing. I had also cleaned the battery terminals and it reset the code and now it is not showing no codes. I may have to drive it and get it warm before it will throw the code right? This thing is driving me nuts..

Yes, you'll have to re-read the code if it appears after swapping the coil packs around.

Well i have discovered that i do not have any compression on cylinder #1 so thats not good news for me. Would it be better to find me a used motor or fix the one i have it has 178,000 miles on it.

Really a hard call to make without knowing just what is wrong.

Just what kind of strange noise??

Can you trouble shoot a little more or is that above your skill level ??

How much work of pulling the engine and replacing one can you do these things get real expensive when you need to pay labor.
