1985 TOYOTA EXTENDED CAB 4WHEEL DRIVE PICKUP. This truck is perhaps the absolute most beautiful 85 Toyota on the planet. Just traded in from Original owners on a new Tundra. This truck is amazing & Extraordinarily RARE to find in this condition. Odometer shows 141,000 miles, but the owners had used this truck to tow behind their RV across country. The front still has the tow lighting kit which was used when it was towed. Actual driving miles are much less than the odometer shows. Truck has just undergone a complete overhaul from top to bottom. Nice. I'm not sure about the rim choice on it though. 15×12 rims for 12.50 tires? About 4" too wide if you ask me.

 

Thanks for the heads up. I have not recieved the truck yet but I will investigate the wheels as soon as I do. I think it is probably a misprint. I plan on removing the wheels and tires anyway and putting OEM stock steel ones on if I can find them cheap. That also means taking off the 4" Rancho lift. I want to restore the truck to its 1985 original condition... eventually. This truck will be a rarely used pavement princess. I think it would be a shame to abuse a vehicle that will someday be a collectors item( it already is as far as I'm concerned).

 

Awesome, I saw that truck a while back and wanted it so bad. Let us know when you get it. If I got the truck, I'd build it up.

Where are you at? You can list your location in your info and it shows up below your name (like mine is). If you're worried about stalkers or truck thieves, just post your state. At least we know what part of the world you are in.

Now, you going to sell the lift kit when removed? My son has a 85 X-cab with the 22RE (I like injection). His stock springs just dont cut it anymore in the places he goes.

Your going to stock tires is good. It would be gutless unless they re-geared it.

I knew I was going to get it with that post. I see exactly where you guys are coming from. This forum is mainly for people who love offroading. Let me explain where I am coming from.
I am 41 years old. I am married with three kids. It is mid-life crisis time. I bought a red 85' 4x4 pickup in excellent condition back in 1988 when I got out of the Marine Corps. I sold my 72' Rallye Red Plymouth Barracuda after driving it for 9 years. I traded the 85' in on brand new red 91' Toy on the day Desert Storm started(16JAN91). I kept that truck untill 98'. In 2000 I got an SR5 Tundra extended cab 4x4. That was the keeper. I loved that truck. Unfortunately due to financial pressure I had to get rid of the Tundra. Broke my heart. I am a Toyota truck guy. Thats who I am. I currently drive a Mazda Protege. It is ok to commute in but it is humiliating. Well, I 've been wanting a Toy since the Tundra left. When I look back to my younger days the 85' has the most fond memories. After I got out of the Corps I drove that 85' cross country from Jersey out here to Arizona. Everything I owned was in the bed. I slept on the ground next to the truck during the 5 days it took to get out here. I had no job and only $500.00 bucks. I got a job at Motorola and have been in the Semiconductor business since(No longer with Motorola).
I saw this white extended cab on ebay. The condition was described as Pristine. How many 85' Toyota 4x4's are in that condition? I felt I had to have it. The idea of some kid buying it and trashing it did not appeal to me. I feel that I can keep it in great condition. 84-85 solid axle trucks in the $2000.00 to $3800.00 range that are in "good" condition are perfect for turning into rock crawlers. If you bash something its not that big a deal. There are many dirt roads out here in AZ. I will take the truck on the 30 miles of dirt to Crown King and stuff like that. It will infrequently see easy dirt roads but that is all I've ever taken any of my trucks on. It will also see some snow in Flagstaff if I think it will safely climb the long inclines up to Flag. (It was ok back in the 80's when the national speed limit was only 55mph!!) Anyway, here is a link to the auction. If someone could post the pictures I would appreciate it. Like I said before, I don't know computers. By the way the main reason I like this site is for the maintenance stuff. For example:I will be putting Redline MT-90 in the tranny(you guys convinced me). Well gotta go. I promised the kids we could shoot the BB guns in the back yard

i feel ya...last year i lost out on a mint '85 sr5 to some 16 year old kid who totally trashed the thing. if i would have gotten there to look at it 15 minutes earlier, it would be sitting in my driveway now. it only had 90,000 original miles, and went for $2000

Yes, I paid $5000.00. That was the reserve price. New Tundra's back in 2000 were $29,500(no discounting back then). $4600 is where I would have been comfy. A couple hundred bucks on a truck of this condition is no big deal to me. This truck will depreciate at most $2000 if at all. My Tundra went down over $11,000 in 3.5 years. Now that hurt.

 

I just got done looking at the truck, all I can say is wow! That thing is cherry (just like mine )

But please, I urge you to reconsider about taking of the suspension lift, and the 33's.

My 89 SR5 has 33's with a 3" BL and hardly ever see's any off roading. But I love the way it looks, and it drives perfectly fine for a daily street driver.

Once again, please don't turn that beauty back to stock

If he wants a stock truck, he's going to get a stock truck. At least the truck is in good hands, and not being lowered to BELOW STOCK.

That is a great looking truck. I say go for stock. I personally am working my rig to a long haul camping/hunting expedition rig but its your toy so what ever floats it.... My moto is just not make is worse than stock. I think I would be getting a D if you graded me right now , but darn, that tree just jumped out from the shadows when I was backing up! You said you felt comfortable paying $4600, you should sell your lift and wheels to those crazy kids (or maybe Yoda's Crazy kid ) and then you might get back to your comfort zone. Either way have fun with it, and let us know when you hit 200,000 miles on that motor and you laugh at all those Heep owners who are happy to hit 100,000

Ahhhhhh,reminds me of high school when an '85 was truly brand new;it was the first time I really started to take notice of Toyota trucks including the 4Runner.
