OK, I am sick of thumming thru my FSM.. What the heck the the correct torque spec for my steel wheels?? (Ok, ok, Lugnuts.. )

I just can not seem to find it and I wanted to find out what the proper spec is for the steel rims. I think it is diffrent than the alloys...

 

i found mine in my owners manual.....like one of the last pages.....mine is 74 but i think i have the alloy wheels....

I don't think there is difference in torque value between alloy or steel rims. My owner's manual specified 76 ft lbs of torque and it just says wheel nut torque. Haynes manual says 67 to 82 ft lbs of torque.

If I remember correctly, most Toyota's are 87 ft/lbs

 

Ok, I guess I need to back them off a bit.. I have always set them to 95lbs :pat:

 

I doubt that small of a difference will really affect much, but for what it's worth, I usually torque mine down to 90 ft/lbs (it is an easy increment to see on my torque wrench).

 

Factory Spec for my stock alloys is 83 ft-lb. since I got my new wheels, 4wheelparts told me the spec for the new ones is 105 ft-lb, seems a bit much to me to I only go about 90 on them. I thought the steelies were a bit more, like 100. I'll check my wife's tacoma owners manual when I get home tonight, she's got the 15" steelies on there.
