Does anyone know how to replace an upper ball joint on a 1996? I plan on replacing mine and wonder if there is a write up. Also, am I going to need a press to install the new joint?

3 I also made myself a wedge out of 1/4 plate to slide around the shank of the bj, then go to town with the separator, seems to make it a heck of a lot easier to beat out.

 

is this for a 3rd gen? From what I understand, installing them on 2nd gens is different than 3rds.

 

 

I made a simple press out of a piece of pipe and U-channel, then used my old diff bolts(replaced when I did the diff drop). Simply press it apart then, press back together.

 

do you have to pull the coils out to get the ball joint out? I wouldnt imagine you would have to. ALso, I was thinking about doing this myself.

Would it be feasable to pull the whole a-arm out and get it pressed in a shop then put it back in?
