How Much Protection is Needed?
My custom skid plate that I made is two pieces. One piece protects the radiator and the other covers from the radiator back to the steering. The lower one weighs a lot and I would like to eliminate it. The question is how strong is everything that will get hit by rocks 4 wheeling. The only thing that I would make a new skid for is the oil pan. I guess the major parts that will get hit are the front transfer case mounts and possibly the steering.
