Would you guys recommend not buying a 2000 V6 5spd with 242,000 miles on it? The owner has always kept up with maintenance and has the records to prove it. I really want to get another 3rd gen but all of the ones in my price range are high mileage

231,000 miles on my 1999 Limited. Only gone through 3 timing belts with everything else being original. The Multi-mode, 4-wheel drive & rear locker are all working like new. I think my 4Runner is just starting to get broken-in. Happy Trails!

Just passed 109K on my 2001, 2WD Limited. Made trip from Houston to Austin last year to get it, and was/am very, VERY satisfied. Expect to get 300K+, with proper maintenance. All auto options and appointments were, and still are EXCELLENT, especially the paint and wheels. Small dealer admitted that he replaced the front seat bottom covers, due to the wear-n-tear on the leather from front passengers sliding in and out of them, due to stock height which didn't really need use of the running boards to step into/out of, and I'll bet that's a common sight for stock, non-4WD 4Runners. Needless to say, I was mighty obliged. Condition of engine looks 3-5 yrs old, best estimate, and idles without noticing.....actually re-cranked it one time (doh!).
Best vehicle I've ever had the pleasure of owning and caring for, and that is saying something after my 1992 Acura Integra, though obviously incomparable in SO MANY WAYS.
It's the perfect family "truck", and I'M LOVIN' IT
