How many miles on your 3rd Gen 4runner?
OK I know this has been here before!! How many miles on your 3rd Gen 4runner?? I am lookin at a 2nd 4runner that has a whopping 386,XXX miles:eek2: for the low low price of $4,000... its in great con. and from, the original owner..
Mine has around 230,XXX! |
Wowsa 386k, I hope I can get that out of mine, but then I'd still have 255k to go since mine has 131k
|
I've got 272k on my 00 4runner. Currently sitting at the shop with the tranny out. I'm considering a rebuild for 1800 right now; including transfer case for my 4wd. Havent had any luck finding a used tranny (I'm located in SoCal, if anyone has any leads please PM me!) and not having a car is a major inconvenience right now.
I love my 3rd gen, i had a 2nd gen before it that was traded in at 186k. I couldn't bring myself to clunker it earlier this year because I felt emotionally attached to it (weird huh...), the thought of killing the engine with liquid glass and then crushing the car was just too depressing for me, of course this was before the tranny died :(. Besides the current transmission troubles, the truck has been a tank. All it took was regular maintenance and a little tlc and before i knew it i blew past a quarter million miles. The previous major fix was for a rear axle that blew, probably from crossing too many rivers; didnt have the diff. breather installed :bang:. Wow $4k for a 2nd gen? I'm hoping to sell my car around the end of the year and would be happy if i could get anywhere near 5k for it, but I seriously doubt it. |
im at almost 110K and just did a tune up that cost $800 just for parts. Runs better than the day i got my 4runner...

214k and still going strong

204k on mine

230K miles on my 02 4runner and the only problems have been the drivers door lock and power antenna. I just put on (did work myself) a new timing belt and water pump, put in OME springs all the way around and the ARB bumper with a 9.5xp winch and she is ready for another 200K miles.
|
122K and it runs great... Sucks down gas like a kid with kool aid though. Anyone have this problem? I maybe get 200 miles per tank. I got more per gallon out of my dang 95 jeep cherokee lifted on 33x18's
|
Only 150k on mine and just had it at the dealer for a TB and water pump change (@138k) and after their full inspection they found nothing to gouge me on and my truck has absolutley zero leaks but am now due for brakes, rotors and new tires in the next couple of weeks.

Just bought a 1996 limited to round my collection of 1st gen 2nd gen and now my much anticipated 3rd gen. Was not really wanting a limited but I did want leather and e-locker it has been very well maintained and I just could not pass it up, it is white, my 1st choice in colors for the 3rd gen the other ones are Blue and Gold. Got it from the second owner with all maintance records back to day one, it only has 154000 on it and he just had all new shocks, struts and brakes including rotors and drums done less than 1000 mi ago. Only thing I thought it needed was tires, and it is getting the new BFG AT/KO 265 75r 16 put on it on Tue they will get mounted on a set Toyota wheels I have had sitting around for awhile that came off a 2002 sport Edition, very nice and uncommon Toyota wheels much nicer than the common wheels it came with. I did have to do the starter contacts and plunger within a fews days of buying it but no big deal there, have done it a few times on the other ones and the 96 is definitly easier than the 91. I got it for $4,800 it has a clean car fax history and no I am not a theif, just pulled up a craigs listing within minutes of it being posted after checking craigs list 6 to 10 times a day for 3 1/2 months every day I knew I would find it sooner or later. Not the SR5 I wanted but it has the leather, e-locker, and it is my first choice in colors. I think I will get used to the funky wheel well flares and body side molding eventually. Happy Yota trails!
