Had a 99 runner all black no chrome, just got an 02 its like that desert pearl/gold color with chrome grill insert and chrome bumpers. How are you guys color matching, paint shop or getting stuff from stealership. Im not even going to attempt it myself, I just hate chrome. Im very anti-bling.

 

keep it in MI for a while, anything metal will turn to rust, its magic

 

On the show "build or bust" Exile cycles hates chrome as well so they take perfectly good chrome parts and scuff them with a scotchbrite pads and
WD40.
It create a cool flat aluminum look.

Dupli-color recommends their adhesion promoter after you scuff the chrome .
Then you paint over the chrome with a primer coat ,then paint. Kenny S>

 

Steel wool - primer/flat black. It's good to work on your on truck, it only strengthens the bond. Look better than that color matching BS.

 

I painted f/r bumpers and grill black.

Sand, clean with acetone, used rustoleum primer (2 coats). Dry, 2-3 light coats of semi-gloss black... came out looking great. I'd add some extra clear coats though if I did it again though.
