How easy is it to break into a 2nd gen 4runner?

broken window
My 90 4runner was broken into a few nights ago. The thief broke the vent window on the passenger side. Luckily, my alarm works and the punk took off. Lucky for him too. I would have loved to pump a few rounds into the bum.
Now, I have to deal with the broken window. Trying to find a cheap replacement...
good luck./

i think i read somewhere on this forum at one time that for those years there were only 4 different key designs made. I locked my keys in my truck last winter at work, took another guys toyota keys for a 92 and unlocked my doors.

Well any recommedations on car alarms, seems ill get a discount on insurance with a car alarm.
i decided already its not worth the cost to claim the items from insurance but i would like to be able to know that if someone tries again, ill hear it.

Donno if anyone has tried this:
With my old 1st gen 4runner, I could litereally stick in a similar width/length key (like my house key I did this). Open the door, and start the engine w/o any hangups.
In fact I used my buddies Jeep key for an entire day when I lost my keys.
Cant do it with my 3rd gen tho!
