How do you adjust the idle speed?
Ok, so i have been messing with my battery to figure out why it died.
I noticed that my voltage drops everytime i come to a stop and the engien idles. Yet if i just raise the RPM's a hundred or so the voltage kicks back up where they are supposed to be.
It idles a tad low (~625) so i need to bump it back up to 750, i think this will fix my charging problems.
Problem is, i can't figure out how i am supposed to adjust hte idle speed. I can't find anything on it in the FSM other then checking the speed. And the only screw that looks to adjust it is the stop for the TB. Usually that is not how you adjust it.
Anyone know?

My alt has done this since i got the truck, and 2 others i have tried did the same thing so i doubt it is the alt.
I just touch the gas and voltage goes to what it should.

Adam is right. You might want to try cleaning the IAC valve but still, it shouldn't be dying at the idle speed it's running at now. The problem has got to be something else like the alternator or a slipping belt...
EDIT: nevermind, I am an idiot, I totally misunderstood your post. I thought you meant the engine died... Anyway, my truck has idled at 500 RPM for years until I put in a new TPS and cleaned the IAC real good. The battery easily lasted 4 years like that and never died on me though.

Voltage when i bump the rpms upt to 750 manually is ~14v. But if it just idles normally at ~625 the voltage drops down to battery voltage (i have a volt meter in the cab).
Which means if i sit idling for a while then it is running on battery power.
