How to check 3.4 tps?
I'm doing some cleaning in my 4runner and just wanted to know how the 3.4's tps is supposed to be checked. 4crawlers site just has it for the 2.4 and 3.0. Don't say search csuse i've been searching and it takes forever on dial-up. I read somewhere that if the voltage is consistant from closed to open then it's fine. True?
My 4runner has been idling at about 2k for a couple of mins then drops down, that's the reason for my cleaning. I found that the iac valve is pretty gunked up so I hope that is the only prob. Thanx for the help.

Idling at 2k is high. I haven't seen mine that high, but I do know that it is higher when the engine is cold, compared to when it's warm. When it changes from closed loop to open loop, idle will go down. It idles high at first to warm things up quickly, like your catalytic converter, to reduce emissions...

It doesn't stay at 2k, it's just there when the engine is cold. I tjust take too long to go back down to normal. Maybe it has to do with my magnaflow cat converter I put on a couple of weeks ago. I'm gonna clean the IAC valve and throttle body to be sure. The MAF was clean about a week ago. Other than that the engine runs great, better than a 3.0.
