How accurate is the TRD boost guage?

My boost guage regularly reads close to 8 lbs. of boost at full throttle exceleration. It has the stock pulley and no deckplate mod. I generally opperate the vehicle at sea level.

I thought that it might be because the air is soooo cold lately. I am just not sure if this would raise boost. I was talking to a rep from TRD the other day and he askes what my guage read. When I told him that it makes almost 8 lbs, he said that I was one of the lucky ones. He made it sound like I got a blower that was built on a good day at the factory.

My guage wasn't installed back in the warmer weather. so I don't know what it makes for boost without the cold air.

Could I just be lucky? Is the guage lying about how much boost I'm getting? If it is bad news, don't tell me. I kind of like being able to tell people that it makes 8 lbs.

Well in any mass produced item, there will be differences from part to part. They are designed to run around 7psi of boost. What this means is that some will be slightly above that, and some slightly below. Also keep in mind that colder air is more dense than warm air. You should see a slight increase in boost in the winter time. By slight I mean around .5psi. Mine read just over 7psi this past summer, and now reads just under 8psi in the cold.

It will read more the colder it is outside. That makes the air more dense to it packs in tighter.

I break 10 PSI on really cold days with my airbox mods and the Supra MAF. I also have made sure my fuel system can keep up with it.

I have tested my TRD (AutoMeter) boost gauge against other gauges and it seems to be right on the money.

Thanks Gadget, that's what I was hoping to hear.

What does that 8lbs. of boost equate to in total horsepower added? TRD claims that the supercharger is good foa a 75hp increase. A tech at Magnusson told me that TRD's claims are on the low side of what it really makes. And that it is closer to 100hp. They are both assuming that the supercharger is making 6lbs. of boost.

All the before and after dyno tests I have seen with just the supercharger give about 40 more HP at the wheels. If you give it the gas it needs you will get a bunch more then that.

There is one guy with a 95 Taco got a whopping 10 HP increase with the supercharger. He listened to me and got that puppy up to 260 RWHP.

I have a dyno chart I scanned out of Today's SUV on my supercharger page if you want to look at it.

I would love to capture the extra hp that you are refering to, but I am still under waranty. How far can I push the limits of the waranty without actually voiding it? What mods would you suggest for my situation? (plus I'm broke  )
