Holes in muffler causing vibration?

Hey guys, i just found a hole in my muffler today. Now when i put the car in reverse or drive my car shakes, i also have a strong odor inside the truck. I left the car in park and looked under my car to see the muffler vibrating. I just put in an order for a Flowmaster 60 series that won't be here till wednesday. Does anyone have experience with this and also how can i patch the problem till Wednesday? maybe some duct tape? thanks

I have a 1997 4runner V6 2wd

Go to Lowes or Home Depot, they have high temperature metal duct tape made for heating vents. Should be in the duct aisle.

I highly doubt it.
Most likely the muffler was shaking because the engine was shaking. Do a tune up and oil change and see what happens.

I had just done a tune up about an hour before the problem started.

so maybe one or more of the spark plugs or wires or cap/rotor are defective. try swapping them for some other ones..then a different brand (best if you have a friend with the same motor. Are you sure you put the wires back on their respective plugs?

oh haha..also, I know from experience....don't use duct tape on the exhaust .

What does the odor smell like ?
