Highway Carnage (my axle blew up)

mods you can move this if its in the wrong spot

first off, im not exactly sure how all of this happened but it did so on the highway and now i know why paventment sucks :cuss

i was driving on the highway and i heard a loud clunky noise and my truck jerked to the right really hard. i thought i blew out a tire so i pull over but cant notice anything wrong. i get going again and i can feel my tire really wobbly and i could hear some kind of noise coming from the front end. being almost 2 hours away from home and thinking like a complete genious i decide to keep driving on it and get a little closer to home.

now the fun stuff

i guess my bearings let loose inside and grenaded the hub a$$embly, the spindle. the rotor ground down on the knuckle some.

its currently sitting at les schwab where they want 1200-1500 to fix everything. im either thinking of just sliding a new axle under there or i know a few people with knuckle out assemblies they will sell me for cheap then i would just have to get a few new things and get it driving.

Something not torqued to the right specs inside the knuckle? You could pick up a used front axle (you used a mini-truck axle, right?) slap the whole thing on there and get it home for 200-300 bucks, right?
